About Kimberly Cousins
Kim's love for horses started at the early age of four when her parents moved back to Pennsylvania. Her mother, after her fifth child, decided it was time to start riding again. Little did she know Kim would be at her heels, for almost a year, begging for lessons of her own. Rewarded by her persistence, her grandparents bought her ten lessons for her birthday, and the love affair began. Growing up, Kim spent her junior years with Judy Stephens at Timber Edge Farm. She
attended University of Georgia and finished at Temple University, riding
on both of their teams with many successful years, getting as far as
nationals. Her intercollegiate experience extended into her professional
life when she was assistant coach at Arcadia and then later coaching
for Temple. Professionally she is active in the local horse show association as a AHS Board member, as well as the USEF. Kim has been recognized with the Outstanding Instructor Award by the United States Hunter and Jumper Association.
Presently Kim cares for her own collection of horses in Eastern Montgomery County. Daily, she is riding, providing lessons and taking students to the same horse shows she attended as a child. Kim's passion to teach is as strong as her passion to ride. She strives to pass the education and tradition of horsemanship onto her own students.
"I am constantly balancing my life as a rider, teacher, mother, and wife and understand the struggles that go with that for all families. I try to maintain a flexible riding schedule offering lessons in the after school hours and Saturdays. Throughout the year I instruct Practical Horsemanship clinics that help my students learn to care for horses. I can not imagine my life without these creatures. I hope to impart my love of riding and the care of horses to all my students." - Kim
